BOSTON, APRIL 15, 2013
The Day Everything Changed.
On April 15, 2013, Rebekah Gregory and her five-year-old son, Noah, were near the finish line of the Boston Marathon when two bombs exploded. Rebekah shielded Noah from the blast and suffered devastating injuries that would lead to dozens of surgeries and ultimately the loss of her left leg below the knee.
The physical recovery was only one part of what followed. In the months and years after the bombing, Rebekah and Noah experienced firsthand how trauma can affect every part of life. Healing meant more than surgeries and learning to walk again. It meant rebuilding a sense of safety, processing what had happened, and learning how to move forward together.
That experience revealed how deeply trauma can affect children and families long after the immediate crisis has passed. Years later, it became the inspiration behind Rebekah’s Angels and a mission to make sure other families have support as they find their own way forward.
THE BEGINNING OF REBEKAH'S ANGELS
A Personal Experience Became a Promise to Other Families
In 2018, Rebekah’s Angels was created with a simple goal: to help children and families affected by trauma get the support they needed to heal. Rebekah had seen firsthand how important trauma-focused therapy was and how difficult it could be for families to access that care when cost stood in the way.
What began as a way to help families access trauma-focused therapy soon grew into something more. As Rebekah’s Angels connected with families facing all kinds of trauma, it became clear that healing does not always fit into one box. Sometimes a family needs therapy. Sometimes they need help making it through an immediate financial crisis. Sometimes they simply need someone to show up and remind them there is still hope.
That understanding shaped Rebekah’s Angels into the organization it is today, meeting families where they are and responding with the kind of support that can make a meaningful difference in what comes next.

FOUNDER
Rebekah Gregory is the founder of Rebekah’s Angels, created from her family’s own experience with trauma and recovery. Drawing on her background in psychology, lived experience, and years of advocacy, she brings a deeply personal understanding of trauma and a commitment to helping families find healing, support, and hope.
Chris Varney
PRESIDENT
Chris Varney serves as President of Rebekah’s Angels, helping guide the organization’s mission and long-term direction. With extensive experience in sales, business development, and relationship building, he brings a strategic perspective to the organization while remaining deeply connected to its mission of supporting families after trauma.
Tiffany Willis
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Tiffany Willis serves as Executive Director
of Rebekah’s Angels, overseeing the organization’s day-to-day work and programs. With more than a decade of experience in the education system, she brings a strong understanding of children and families, along with the compassion and leadership needed to turn the organization’s mission into meaningful action.
